There are various ways in which disciplines interact. There is interdisciplinarity, which is about ideas present in the intersection of two disciplines, such as biochemistry. Multidisciplinarity is when many disciplines come together to solve a problem. For instance, issues related to water scarcity require physicists, biologists, economists, sociologists, chemists, and many others to solve. Transdisciplinarity is about the common concepts present in what look like different disciplines. For instance, the concept of structure is present in almost every discipline. So is the concept of change. At the level of knowledge construction, the ideas of justification, classification, and definition cut across disciplines.
