Curriculum Framework For Higher Order Cognition

Both NEP 2020 and the NAAC White Paper 2022 “Reimagining Assessment and Accreditation in Higher Education in India” emphasise the need to incorporate Higher Order Cognitive Capacities (HOCC) as a core component of curricula for Higher Education in India. This article, focuses on the two questions on the implementation of this recommendation:

  1. The Goals: What are the learning outcomes that the design of a curriculum for Higher Order Cognition should aim at?

  2. The Means: What pedagogical strategies should a curriculum employ to achieve the learning outcomes it chooses to aim at?
